This Kangra painting style originated in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh, India, during the mid-18th century under the patronage of the Kangra rulers, particularly Raja Sansar Chand (1775–1823). It evolved from the earlier Basohli school of Pahari painting but distinguished itself with a softer, more romantic aesthetic.
This Painting depicts Lord Krishna sitting with his beloved Lady Radha in the forests and adorning her beauty. The minute details can be seen in their clothes and minute features with trees, birds and peacocks symbolising peace and tranquility around these holy souls.
