This artwork is made from the Holy Sand of Dhanushkodi~ the last road of India. It is where Hindu Gods – Ram, Laxman and Hanuman walked on Earth to build the Ram-Setu (Adam’s Bridge). It is said that Squirrells also wanted to help Lord Ram in his pursuit to reach Sri Lanka and helped him build the stone bridge on water by giving small rocks. The rocks floated by writing his name “Sri Ram”. The Golden Deer also has a great relevance in “Ramayana” wherein Marich (the Uncle of Ravan) was made to turn into a golden deer to lure Sita into asking Ram to capturing it. This piece of art captures some intriguing parts of the “Ramayana”- the holy story of Lord Ram (re-incarnation of the God Vishnu).
